John is currently the Principal Lecturer in Livestock Production at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester. He is a Course Director for the Institute of Agricultural Management Leadership Course and for the John Edgar Trust Management Development Scheme. He is a fellow of the Institute of Agricultural Management, of the Royal Agricultural Societies, and of the Institution of Agricultural Engineers.
He has travelled widely and is a Nuffield Jubilee Scholar and a New Zealand Waitangi Foundation Fellow. He is a past Council Member of the British Society of Animal Science and a past Chairman of the Institute of Agricultural Management. John was formerly Farms Manager at the Institute for Grassland & Animal Production, Hurley and Shinfield, and previously Head of Experiments Division, at the Animal Breeding Research Organisation, Edinburgh.
A frequent attendee at IFMA Congresses, in August 2005 he was elected to IFMA Council as President Elect. In November 2005 he was presented with the AKC Farm Management Award for outstanding contribution to Farm Management at the UK National Farm Management Conference.
His research interests include global trade, maize production, beef, sheep and dairying.
